SESSION TRANSCRIPT
ROSS MINOR: Incredible! I had the chance to trial a Monarch display at CSUN this year and I was absolutely blown away. I had the chance to feel the map of the United States and touch and zoom into a specific part of the map. I was even able to see how people could play chess with the Monarch. There’s so much potential with the Monarch in both an educational setting, but even in gaming context. And I’m very curious to see how the blind community will take advantage of Lotus’s technology.
KARAE LISLE: You know, Ross, seeing Lotus emerge as the winner of our pitch competition this past summer is particularly meaningful. Our competition was created as a catalyst for innovation in accessibility and to begin a pipeline for future Sight Tech Global Conferences. Both spotlights support our mission of highlighting solutions that create a more inclusive world for people of all abilities. And, well, we’ve reached the end of day two. The innovation and dedication we’ve witnessed here at Sight Tech Global truly showcases the rapid advancement in accessibility technology.
ROSS MINOR: Absolutely. As I’ve already said, and I will say it again, there’s never been a better time to be blind. The technology at our fingertips and the passionate people working to create a more inclusive future give me strength. There’s such hope. From navigation aids to tactile displays, we’re seeing so much of the outstanding challenges for the visually impaired community be addressed.
KARAE LISLE: And I want to thank everyone for joining Sight Tech Global. Vista Center, a nonprofit here in Silicon Valley, is the host of Sight Tech Global, and we’re proud to bring these conversations to the forefront of the conference. If you’ve been inspired by the innovations and discussions of the past two days, please consider supporting our mission financially. We serve 3,700 people annually with vital programs and services. You can make a donation through the button at the top of the right-hand corner of the SightTech Global website, www.sighttechglobal.com. We offer this conference and content free of charge and hope that we will receive sponsorships and charitable donations to help fund our annual operations.
ROSS MINOR: And thank you so much for the opportunity to participate as an emcee and to share my thoughts during these incredible two days. I’m absolutely inspired that the future of accessible technology is being done right, and it’s being shaped by all of us, developers, users, and advocates alike.
KARAE LISLE: And thank you, Ross. It’s been a pleasure to have you as a co-host. I look forward to one day being in the same place at the same time with you, but we’re lucky to have Zoom bring us together. For these two days. And I want to thank our audience for tuning in to Sight Tech Global 2024. We will load all of our sessions up onto our YouTube channel within the next couple of weeks, so you can forward your excitement and enthusiasm to your friends and people in the visually impaired community to watch on YouTube later. And if you’d like to participate in SightTech Global 2025 as a sponsor, or a speaker, please reach out to us directly on our website. So, until next year, thank you again to everyone who helped us host and produce this. Thank you to the Sunol Group. Thank you to Dmitry Paperny. Thank you to all of our sponsors. And we look forward to seeing you next year.
